Hunt whitetail deer on a large, classic South Texas Ranch. 5,500 high fenced acres means a fair chase hunt for wild and reclusive bucks. Fifteen years of management presents the opportunity to view buck/doe ratios, an age structure, and trophy bucks of a caliber that is hard to find anywhere else. The ranch has been rifle-managed only; there are none of the imported genetics or pen-raised deer that raise question-marks elsewhere – in fact, there are plenty of animals out in the heavy brush that are never even seen, including some big old bucks that are wily enough to evade notice even on the annual helicopter survey. The deer herd benefits from a ‘let ‘em get old philosophy’ as well as careful culling, supplemental protein feeding, and warm season food plots. Bucks often achieve a field - dressed weight of 180 lbs or more.
Most hunts are guided 1:1 and hunters can expect to see as
many as 15 – 20 bucks in a day. We hunt out of large, comfortable box
blinds along with a little bit of moving and stalking, or rattling if the time
is right. When not hunting, hunters can relax at the lodge, or fish for
black bass in one of the numerous stocked tanks on the ranch.
We field dress, skin, cape, and quarter your trophy at the
ranch, though you will be responsible for taxidermy and meat processing.
We can transport to taxidermist or processor for additional fee.
We offer a limited number of high quality whitetail hunts
each year in a family style, rather than the more impersonal ‘outfitter style’
environment.
